Chapter 6 Omake
What Tsuzuki and Hisoka are doing, now that they’ve been temporarily written out of the story.
Desk Job
This.
Totally.
Sucks.
Okay. It’s 9:30 A.M., Friday morning. We’ve been here since 8 A.M., just like we’re supposed to be. And there is nothing to do. I’m getting the feeling that I know why we used to get so much paperwork, but now that it’s being redirected into another division, there isn’t anything to fill the time.
I am so, so very bored. And this is the fifth day of this. At least it wasn’t too bad when the others were still here – then, we could chat or play cards. But everyone’s out on assignment. Everyone that is, except for us.
Of course, *he* has no problem with this. I think if Tatsumi didn’t exist, Tsuzuki’d be off lounging in bed. Instead, he’s lounging at his desk next to mine.
I’ve been reading. What else? But you know what? Doing nothing but reading or staring at the wall for a few days is not nearly as fun as it sounds like. I need to ask the Chief if the general staff can get hooked up with internet or something, because if I have to sit in this chair for another day reading, I am seriously, seriously going to snap.
Well, I guess there’s worse things to make a living at. I mean, I could be a lawyer.
“Ne, Hisoka…” My hands twitch.
“What?” I ask, a little irritated. “What is it?”
“I was just wondering what you’re doing for lunch?” Tsuzuki leans over toward me expectantly.
“What do you think I’m doing for lunch? Having lunch with you,” I say. “And what are you thinking of lunch for? We just had breakfast, baka.”
He makes a pretty cute frowny face. I’m starting to think that maybe I snap at him just to see it. But no, that’s not it. I snap at him because he’s annoying me. You try being cooped up by yourself in an office with him for a few days. At least I have the decency to read a book. He…actually, I have no idea what he’s been doing. I think he’s been napping.
“So mean, Hisoka,” he says petulantly, and sighs.
“Sorry, Tsuzuki. I’m just bored, and it makes me grumpy,” I admit. I put down my book.
“Me too,” Tsuzuki says with a sigh. A few moments pass, and suddenly, I can feel his epiphany as if a light’s turned on in his head. “So…” he looks at me expectantly.
“I was thinking…” I start, getting a better idea of what’s going on in his head as his feelings start opening up.
“Maybe you’d…” he continues.
“Like to…” I prompt.
“…Have…” he adds, hesitantly.
“Sex? Yes. Now.” I stand up, and start undoing the top button of my shirt as I walk toward him. He’s such a klutz when it comes to buttons.
“But here?” Tsuzuki looks up at me in trepidation, as I start loosening his tie for him.
“Everyone’s out of the office. The Gushoushin never come this far in our division unless they absolutely have to. The chief is in meetings all morning today. Besides, you wanted to get back at Terazuma for that time he accused us of stealing the Hakushaku’s mask, right?”
Tsuzuki’s eyes wander over to Terazuma’s desk. As usual when he’s out of office, it’s a tidy personality-free zone, with not even a paperclip to show that someone works there.
“All right then.”
Who said work had to be boring?
